HOT NEWS!
We
have reached our 50% certification target
and have just had this confirmed
by the Fairtrade Foundation
|
Willesden and Kensington are well beyond 50% certification rate
Willesden,
Kensington and Stepney areas have about three quarters
of
their parishes involved in Fairtrade
76%
of all parishes in Willesden and Kensington are now
actively involved in the campaign;
and
the Stepney the figure is now
73% .... Well done!
The
diocese needs to have 50% of its parishes certified to qualify
towards
Diocesan Fairtrade status.
Willesden, Kensington and Stepney have
reached this target
with 60% and 62% and 52% respectively
Edmonton is nearly there at 48%.

5,300 Fairtrade churches across the UK!
This directly helps over 1.5 million farmers and workers, giving
them stability and hope for the future. Keep spreading the Fairtrade
message to the wider community and help us to tip the balance for
trade justice.

Publicity for local events
We
need good publicity for Fairtrade events in our churches and diocese,
as part of our commitment to raise awareness of trade issues, of
the Fairtrade Mark, and to encourage change.
Try
to get your event covered in the local press, and also be prepared
to send in your own report and picture. Send one to us with an outline
of the event; what worked and what didn’t work.
Keep
your report short, and don’t forget to give your contact details.
It is best to email the press, but try to drop into the office or
phone beforehand to make contact with a reporter.
The
Fairtrade
Foundation's action guide for 2009 has a sample press
release and guidelines at the end of the document.
Try
to get an interview about an event on local or Premier Christian
radio. They are generally very supportive and pleased to have items
to fill spaces. Again, if you can please send details to us too.
